We would like merits for a learner to be on his/her name for a year, but with an option to start the demerits from scratch each term. We have situations where learners got demerits through the year and in the fourth term it is enough for a detention, but most of the demerits came from the first and second term. It does not make sense to let them sit detention for something that happened so long ago.
