We would like to explore the possibility of developing a feature within the d6 platform that would enable schools to create and manage a business directory for their school communities.

The purpose of this feature would be to provide parents with an opportunity, on a voluntary basis, to make their business details available to other members of the school community. This would allow families to support local businesses and services owned or operated by fellow parents whenever a need arises.

We envisage the following functionality:

• A registration form through which parents can submit their business and contact details.
• Parent consent for the publication of information in compliance with POPIA requirements.
• Categorisation of services (e.g. plumbers, electricians, attorneys, medical practitioners, building contractors, tutors, etc.).
• A search and filtering function to enable users to easily find relevant service providers.
• The ability for the school to review and approve submissions before publication.
• The option for parents to update and maintain their own listings.

We believe that such a feature would not only encourage mutual support within the school community but would also add value to the d6 platform as a tool that strengthens community engagement and collaboration.
