How to set up and manage Achievements

Achievements are the items that learners receive rewards for, grouped under School Activities such as Academics, Tennis, and Leadership. Typical examples include Top 10 per Subject, 1st Team Captain, and Head Boy.

My School > System > Achievements > Databases > Achievements and Wording

How do I add a new achievement?

  1. Select the relevant School Category and underlying Activity, then click + Add New.

  2. The first three fields should be pre-populated. If not, close and re-open the window.

  3. For the Academics category, select the Achievement Criteria. These criteria use learner marks to allocate achievements automatically.

  4. Select a Sponsor if it should print on the certificate.

  5. Enter the achievement name in both Afrikaans and English. This name prints on the certificate below the activity.

  6. Select the certificate template that will be linked to this achievement from the dropdown.

  7. Select the status of this achievement category from the dropdown to show if this category is active, inactive, or deleted.

  8. In the text box, click the Achievement button (or Prestasie for Afrikaans) to add it to the certificate text. Add optional fields such as Subject or Optional results as needed. Repeat this step for both language text boxes, even if printing in one language only.

  9. Click Save. Achievements shown in pink have not yet been linked to a certificate template — refer to the Certificate Templates article.

Important: If you edit an academic achievement, re-allocate it to learners at My School > Achievements > Allocation >  Automatic Academic Allocations to ensure the updated format displays on generated certificates.

How do I edit or delete an achievement?

  1. Select the relevant School Activity Category.

  2. Double-click on the entry or click on the entry and select "edit entry".

  3. Make the required changes and click Save.

  4. To remove an achievement, set its status to Inactive (can be reactivated later) or Deleted (permanent).

Frequently asked questions

Why is an achievement showing in pink?

Pink highlights indicate the achievement has not yet been linked to a certificate template. Set up the template by following the Certificate Templates article.

Do I need to fill in both language text boxes?

Yes. Even if you plan to print certificates in one language only, you must complete the achievement text box for both Afrikaans and English.

I edited an academic achievement — why hasn't the certificate been updated?

Editing an achievement does not automatically update previously allocated certificates. Go to My School > Achievements > Allocation >  Automatic Academic Allocations and re-allocate the achievement to apply the changes.
