The Informal Curriculum Maintenance Add-on is designed for schools that want to include additional activities or tasks that fall outside standard Department of Education (DOE) guidelines. These activities are added to DOE subjects as informal, non-DOE tasks and are assigned a zero weight, meaning they do not affect a learner’s official promotion average.
This allows schools to track and record additional learning activities without impacting formal assessment outcomes.
When your school is on this plan, the OSM team will assist with:
Adding informal or non-DOE tasks to relevant DOE subjects.
Ensuring these tasks are correctly configured as zero-weighted items in the system.
Supporting the correct setup structure so that informal activities do not affect promotion calculations.
If your school requires these activities to appear on the report card, an informal formula must be created, or the Informal Formula Maintenance Plan must be used.
This plan is only for informal, non-DOE activities.
All informal tasks are zero-weighted and do not contribute to final promotion averages.
This plan does not replace or include CAPS assessment requirements for non-DOE subjects.
It is not suitable if informal tasks must contribute to a learner’s final mark or average.
If report card display is required, an additional formula setup is necessary.
