Adding Parents and Guardians

Overview

This article explains how to capture parent and guardian information during learner enrolment, including how to handle single-parent households and additional guardians.

My School > Learners > Learners > Add Learner > Steps 4 & 5

Purpose of feature

Accurate parent and guardian records are essential for communication, billing, and emergency contact purposes. The d6 platform links parent profiles directly to the learner record and the d6 Communicator app.

Step-by-step instructions

Capturing two parents (Steps 4 & 5)

  • Enter full contact details for Parent 1 on Step 4, and Parent 2 on Step 5.

  • Include email address and mobile number to ensure the parent receives d6 Communicator notifications.

Single-parent households

  • If Single Parent was selected during Step 2, select No other parent on Step 5 to skip the second parent entry.

Adding a third or additional guardian

  • The enrolment wizard captures a maximum of two parents.

  • To add additional guardians after saving, navigate to My School > Parents > Parents and link them to the learner from there.

What happens if I skip the second parent during enrolment?

You can add a second parent at any time after saving by editing the learner's profile or navigating to My School > Parents > Parents.

Why is the parent not receiving d6 Communicator notifications?

Ensure the parent's email address and mobile number are correctly captured. The parent must also download the d6 Communicator app and link to the school.
