Purpose of this feature
Instead of building a budget from scratch each year, you can copy a previous year's budget as a starting point. This is particularly useful when budget structures remain largely the same year on year.
Important information
Copying a budget is irreversible. Once completed, it cannot be undone.
The system will display a warning before the copy is finalised — read it carefully before confirming.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1 — Select the budget to copy
Step 2 — Initiate the copy
Step 3 — Select source and destination
Step 4 — Confirm the copy
Click the Copy button.
The system will display a warning stating that once the copy is completed, it cannot be reversed.
Click I understand to proceed.
The copied budget will now be available with all categories and items from the source budget.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a budget copy after it has been completed?
No. The copy action is irreversible. Once you click I understand and the copy completes, it cannot be undone. Make sure you have selected the correct source and destination budgets before confirming.
Will copying a budget overwrite the destination budget's existing items?
Yes. All items from the source budget will be copied to the destination budget. Ensure the destination budget is either empty or that you are happy for its contents to be replaced.
Can I edit the copied budget items after the copy is done?
Yes. Once the copy is complete, all budget items in the destination budget can be edited as normal. See Annual Budgets — Editing a budget item for details.
