Use this function to manage who has access to specific modules in d6 Connect, including resources, calendar events and homework. This does not restrict users from sending d6 Connect news items. The Programme Rights Administrator (Superuser) can assign communication rights. A staff member appointed as Communication Administrator can also assign rights to other staff members.
My School > Communication > Manage Communication Rights
Go to My School > Staff > Staff and edit the relevant staff member's profile.
Under Communication rights information, select the relevant communication roles.
Select Yes next to May use d6 Connect and d6 to enable the user to send news items.
Under Programme rights information: select View and Edit for Manage communication channels and communication category and Manage contact persons.
Click Save.
Administrator: Can perform all actions (except assigning system access, which is the Superuser's responsibility only). Has access to all channels, homework and calendars. Can assign roles to others.
Moderator: Can do everything an Administrator can, except manage users or roles or add channels/calendars. Can publish unpublished content. Can assign educators to calendars and channels.
Editor: Can create, edit and publish own resources and calendar events.
Author: Can create content (resources and calendar events) but not publish it. Content must be published by a Moderator or Administrator.
Under Manage Communication Access Rights:
Select the relevant staff member's name from the drop-down.
Select the Communication role. If Administrator is selected, all content checkboxes are automatically ticked.
For Author/Editor/Moderator: link the user to specific Resources (channels), Homework (grades, learning programmes, subjects) and Calendars.
Note: If a user receives Homework rights for a subject group, they automatically also receive Mark Capture rights for the same subject group. If this is not desired, remove the subject group at My School > Curriculum > Mark Capture Rights.
The Superuser (Programme Rights Administrator) can always assign communication rights. A staff member appointed as Communication Administrator can also assign rights to other staff members.
If a person has View and Edit rights for Manage communication channels and communication category, Administrator Communication Rights are automatically assigned to that person.
Both can create content, but an Editor can also publish their own content, while an Author's content must first be approved by a Moderator or Administrator before publication.
