Birthdays
This function enables you to add, edit, or delete templates used in the Birthday Messages function.

How do I add a birthday SMS template?
Click the Add button next to the drop-down menu.
Select the language by clicking the appropriate language tab at the top. You must complete a template for both Afrikaans and English.
Enter a short, descriptive Template title.
Use Merge Fields where needed — the system automatically replaces the curly brace codes with the specific information for each recipient.
Click Save to commit your changes.
How do I edit a template?
Double-click on the template line at the main screen. The template will open in edit mode. Make the required changes, then select the Status: Active/Inactive/Delete and click Save.
Frequently asked questions
How many characters can an SMS contain?
Each SMS part has a max 250 characters. Messages longer than 250 characters are sent as multiple parts and charged per part.
What are Merge Fields?
Merge Fields are codes in curly braces (e.g., {Name}) that the system automatically replaces with the relevant learner or parent information when the SMS is sent.
Do I need to complete the template in both languages?
Yes. The system sends the message in the communication language set for each parent. Both Afrikaans and English versions must be completed to ensure the correct message is delivered.
