How to set up the Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct module enables schools to set up Recognitions and Violations linked to positive and negative discipline marks. Various violations can be set up with different negative mark values, and various recognitions with positive marks. Note that the system does not calculate a balance between positive and negative marks.

What are the components of the Code of Conduct setup?
The Code of Conduct setup consists of five areas — refer to the dedicated article for each for full step-by-step instructions:
Categories — Group related conduct items together.
Conduct — Define the specific Recognitions and Violations and their point values.
Action setup — Configure automated actions that trigger when a learner reaches a point threshold.
Action processing — Process and manage triggered actions for individual learners.
Action control — Review and control the status of outstanding actions.
Discipline Letters — Manage your school's discipline letters.
SA-SAMS Detention Settings — Set up how your code of conduct setup needs to relate and export to SA-SAMS.
Frequently asked questions
Does the system balance positive and negative conduct marks?
No. The system records positive (Recognition) and negative (Violation) marks independently. It does not calculate a net balance between them.
Can I change the accumulated totals expiry period?
Yes. Go to My School > System > General > General > School Setup, find the Code of Conduct Information field and change the period (Monthly, Per Term, Bi-Annually, Yearly or No expiry). Do not change this setting mid-year as it will affect historical entries.
