Editing a Message You Have Already Sent

Editing a Message You Have Already Sent

The Edit Message feature lets you update a published message without having to create and send a whole new one. Use this to fix typos, correct dates, or add missing information.

Messages → [Find message] → Edit (pencil icon)

How do I edit a sent message?

  1. Go to Messages from the main menu.

  2. Find the published message you want to edit.

  3. Click the Edit button (pencil icon) next to the message.

  4. The message opens in the Message Builder. Make your changes.

  5. Click Update Message to save. The live message updates immediately.

What can and cannot be edited?

  • Text, Files, Images: Can be freely added, changed, or removed.

  • Events: Can add new events; cannot delete existing ones (parents may have RSVP'd).

  • Forms: Can add new forms and edit question text; cannot delete existing answer options.

  • Votes: Standard votes can be edited or deleted; SGB votes cannot (legally protected).

  • Payments: Can add new payment components; cannot delete existing ones or change amounts.

  • Location, Contact, YouTube: Can be freely added, edited, or removed.

System behaviour and restrictions

  • App only: Changes are only visible in the App. People who received the original message via Email or SMS will not receive the updated version.

  • Recipients are locked: You cannot change who received the message. If you need to reach different people, create a new message.

  • No drafts for edits: Any changes are applied immediately when you click Update Message. Review carefully before saving.

Frequently asked questions

Will parents who received the message via email or SMS see my edits?

No. Edits are only reflected in the App version of the message. Recipients who received the original via Email or SMS will not see the updated content.

Can I change who received the message after sending?

No. Recipients are locked once a message is sent. If you need to reach different people, create and send a new message.

Why can I not delete a payment or event component from a sent message?

Payment and event components are protected once a message is live because parents may have already made payments or RSVP'd. You can still add new components or edit parts of the existing ones.

Are edits applied instantly or do I need to re-send?

Edits are applied immediately when you click Update Message. There is no need to re-send. Parents will see the updated version when they next open the message in the App.
