To begin capturing marks, navigate to: My School > Learners > Learner Marks: Marks per Group
This function allows you to enter marks for an entire grade based on their specific subject classes.
Initial Selection: Select the relevant Year, Term, Grade, and Subject.
Choose Your Level: Select the level you wish to enter marks for: Subject marks, Task/LO marks, or Assessment marks.
Note for SA-SAMS Users: If your school exports data to the Department of Education, you must enter marks on Green level (Assessment Marks), or at least the "orange" (Task Marks) to meet promotion formula requirements.
Confirmation: When you select a level (Subject Mark, Task mark or Assessment mark), the total number of learners will appear in brackets on the button (e.g., (137)), confirming the points have been saved successfully.
Select Subject Group: Choose the specific group for mark entry. If you have students not yet assigned, check the "unallocated" tab to see names not linked via "Subject Group Allocation".
Change of Mark tab name:
Navigate to the Mark 1 tab.
You can rename this tab (e.g., "Reading - Test") by changing the Column name
Data Entry: Enter either the Learner mark.
Use Tab or Enter to move to the next learner; marks are stored automatically.
A green banner indicating "saved" will appear on the right side.
Editing: To change a mark, click the specific field and edit it. A green banner indicating "updated and saved" will confirm the change.
Multiple Worksheets: Click the Plus (+) icon on the right hand side to add more worksheets (e.g., "Mark 2"). d6 will automatically calculate the final assessment mark as an average of all worksheets used.
The "a" Button: Use this to bulk capture "absent" marks for all learners who do not have an existing mark. This is available on subject, task, and assessment levels.
The "=" Button: Manually recalculates marks. (Please note that d6 usually automates this calculation as you capture data).
The "x" Button: Use with extreme caution. Confirming this action will permanently delete ALL marks for the selected subject group.
Why am I seeing a "subject type weights" message? This occurs if weights are missing from your setup. Click "Ok", and d6 will guide you to: My School > Curriculum > Curriculum Setup: Setup Learning Program > Step 2: Setup Subjects. Add the missing weights and click "Accept Changes".
Why am I seeing a "no learners set up for this subject" message? This means learners haven't been linked to the subject yet. Click "Ok", and you will be redirected to: My School > Curriculum > Learner Subjects: Subject Choices Per Subject. Link the relevant learners by moving them to the right-hand column and clicking "Save".
What do I do when a learner starts at the school mid year/different term: Even though the learner was not enrolled at your school during Term 1, the system still expects a full academic record for the year. The best way to handle this is to capture the marks from the learner’s previous school, based on the report they provided.
Here’s what to do:
Link the learner to all relevant subjects for all four terms (even if they only joined in Term 3).
If the learner brought a report from their previous school with only subject marks (e.g., Afrikaans = 70%), but no task breakdown:
You can enter those marks at the task level (orange level).
Example:
Let’s say Term 1 for Afrikaans had 2 tasks: Reading and Writing and Speaking and Comprehension.
The mark from the previous school report (e.g., 70%) can be entered for both tasks in Term 1.
This ensures that the learner has marks across all terms, and it will allow the system to calculate the correct yearly average and remove the outstanding task from your list.
To do this:
Go to My School > Learners > Learner Marks: Marks per Group.
