How to adjust marks for FET subjects in SA-SAMS for the June exam

This guide explains how to adjust the marks schedule in SA-SAMS so it reflects only the June exam mark for FET subjects. It applies only to schools using SA-SAMS for the FET mid-year exam. Follow each step carefully so the schedule reflects the June exam mark alone.

What must I do before I start?

  1. Install the latest SA-SAMS 26.1.1 patch, downloaded from the Thutong website.

  2. Export your database from d6 at My School > Compliance > Export to SA-SAMS.

  3. Unzip the database.

  4. Open SA-SAMS and let the system patch. Click Yes on the pop-up, then OK.

How do I turn off marks security?

Open SA-SAMS menu 16.13.

  1. Select the Grade and Subject, then click Go.

  2. Click the robot icon, which changes from green to red.

  3. Click the yellow Save button at the bottom.

  4. Confirm by clicking Yes, then OK.

How do I adjust the SBA and term weights?

Open SA-SAMS menu 12.3.11. The example used here is Computer Applications Technology, Grade 12.

  1. Click the SBA Year Mark: Convert Mark using weight line at the bottom, then click Edit Task.

  2. Change the weighting from 25% to 100%, then Save.

  3. Click Weights/Validation, the yellow icon on the right tab, and confirm with Yes.

  4. Update the term and SBA weights as set out in the table below.

Click Save/Validate. There should be no errors or warnings.

How do I capture or check the marks?

Open SA-SAMS menu 12.3.12.

  1. Select the Grade and Subject, set Class to All and Term to Term 2, then click Go.

  2. Click Save.

  3. Confirm the pop-up with OK.

How do I recalculate the final totals?

Open SA-SAMS menu 12.7.16.3.

  1. Check that only the June exam marks are included.

  2. Click Save. The yellow and pink areas will disappear.

How do I print the marks schedule?

Open SA-SAMS menu 12.9.15.7.

  1. Generate the mark schedule, which should contain only the June exam result.

  2. Click Done to confirm.

  • Repeat per subject: This process must be repeated for each FET subject.

  • Internal use: These settings are intended for internal school use and are not auto-shared unless required by your district.

  • District confirmation: Confirm all schedules with your district if you are unsure.
