How do I assign communication rights to a staff member?
Navigate to My School > Staff > Staff.
Edit the profile of the relevant staff member check the communication rights below the program access information.
Notes
Active profile required: A staff profile must be set to active before communication rights take effect.
Role-based permission: Message rights are controlled by the user role the staff member is linked to, not by the individual profile alone.

Why can't a staff member send direct or group messages?
Check that the staff profile is active under My School > Staff > Staff, and that the user role they are linked to allows direct or group messages.
Does a staff profile need to be active before rights work?
Yes. The profile must be edited and set to active before any assigned communication rights take effect.

Open the staff member's profile under My School > Staff > Staff and review the user role field linked to that profile.
