This article explains how to assign teachers to subjects and class groups in d6 after implementation. It is for administrators and covers linking staff members to specific subject groups so they can access marks capture and class-related functions.
My School > Curriculum > Subject Groups
Teachers in d6 access marks capture, class lists, based on their subject group assignments. Each class group has a designated teacher who owns capturing rights for that group. Administrators must assign additional educators under marks capturing rights .
Navigate to My School > Curriculum > Subject group
Ensure the educator is selected from the drop down list assigned next to the correct subject and grade or alternatively under marks capturing rights.
Go to My School > Staff > Classrooms
Select the relevant grade class (e.g., Grade 8A).
Click Edit and select the Class Teacher from the staff list.
Click Save. The class teacher will appear on the report card and can enter class teacher comments.
Update the Teacher field to the new staff member.
Click Save. The new teacher will immediately gain access to marks capture for this group. The previous teacher will lose access.
Any marks previously captured remain on record and are not affected by the teacher change.
Staff prerequisites: The teacher must have an active staff record and the correct role permissions in d6 before they can be assigned to a class group. Verify this under My School > Staff.
One teacher per group: Each subject group has a single assigned teacher. If multiple teachers share a class, assign the primary teacher and manage access permissions separately.
Confirm the teacher subject group is created. Also check that their d6 user account is active and has the Teacher role. If both are correct, ask the teacher to log out and log back in to refresh their permissions.
Yes. A teacher can be assigned to as many class groups as needed across different subjects and grades. Each group is managed independently in the Class Lists screen.
When a staff member is deactivated in d6, they immediately lose access to all class groups and marks capture screens. Reassign their groups to a replacement teacher before deactivating to avoid any disruption.
