This article explains how to set up assessment tasks and configure mark sheets in d6 after implementation. It is for school administrators and covers creating assessment types, adding tasks per term, and setting weighting and mark totals.
My School > Curriculum > Assessments
Assessment tasks define what gets captured in the marks screen. Before teachers can enter marks, an administrator must create the assessment structure for each subject and term. This includes task types (e.g., Test, Exam, Assignment), their mark totals, and how they contribute to the term and year-end marks.
Navigate to My School > Curriculum > Assessments
Select the subject and if you had created a tasks you can create an assessment below the tasks
Click Add New
Add the name and keyword put in a mark out of and weight for the assessment and ordering number of how it should appear in the list
Click Submit.
You can create as many as you need.
Go to My School > Curriculum > Learning outcomes/tasks
Filter by Grade and Subject
Click Add New

Add whether it is a common task or not and the ordering number.
Click Save.
Weighting must total 100%: The sum of all task weightings within a term must equal 100%. d6 will warn you if the total is incorrect.
CAPS compliance: Assessment structures for each phase are regulated by CAPS policy. Ensure your task types and weightings align with the DBE's Programme of Assessment (PoA) before finalising.
Locking tasks: Once marks have been captured for a task, the task details (mark total, weighting) should not be changed.
Bulk setup: Tasks and Assessments structures can be imported if it is an international school.
At least one assessment task must be created for the subject and term before the marks capture screen is visible to teachers. Check that tasks have been added and that the teacher is assigned to the correct class list group.
Yes. You can add additional tasks at any time during the term. Existing marks will not be affected. Be aware that adding a new weighted task will require adjusting other task weightings to ensure the total remains 100%.
Create an assessment type called "Oral" or "Practical" under Assessment Types, then add it as a task on the relevant subject. Set the appropriate mark total and weighting according to your school's PoA.
d6 will display a validation warning and prevent marks from being finalised or report cards from being generated. Correct the weighting before the term mark calculation is run.
