This article explains how to copy an existing annual budget to a new year in d6. Copying a budget saves time by carrying over all budget categories and items from a previous year, which you can then adjust as needed.
Finance > Budget > Annual Budgets
Instead of building a budget from scratch each year, you can copy a previous year's budget as a starting point. This is particularly useful when budget structures remain largely the same year on year.
Copying a budget is irreversible. Once completed, it cannot be undone.
The system will display a warning before the copy is finalised. Read it carefully before confirming.
Navigate to Finance > Budget > Annual Budgets.
Click the circle next to the budget you want to copy to select it.
Click the Copy budget button.
Choose the budget you want to copy from.
Select the new budget you want to copy to.
Click the Copy button.
The system will display a warning that the action cannot be reversed.
Click I understand to proceed.
The copied budget will now be available with all categories and items from the source budget.
No. The copy action is irreversible. Once you click I understand and the copy completes, it cannot be undone. Make sure you have selected the correct source and destination budgets before confirming.
Yes. All items from the source budget will be copied to the destination budget. Ensure the destination budget is either empty or that you are happy for its contents to be replaced.
Yes. Once the copy is complete, all budget items in the destination budget can be edited. Navigate to Finance > Budget > Annual Budgets, select the budget, click Manage budget items, then select the item and click Edit.
