How to export to SA-SAMS database

To submit your d6+ information to the Department of Education, a valid SA-SAMS export must be prepared. This requires certain learner, parent and personnel information to be included.

Step 1 — Resolve outstanding tasks first

Before exporting, check and resolve outstanding tasks at My Home > My Information: My Tasks and My School > d6 Initiatives > Compliance: Outstanding Compliance Tasks.

Step 2 — Export to SA-SAMS database

  1. Select the term for the export.

  2. Select the Promotion formula Type (usually Promotion Mark).

  3. Select the SA-SAMS export database template.

  4. Choose the number of years of data to export.

  5. Choose Reporting Language (English preferred for DoE submission).

  6. Tick applicable options: Pre-Primary learners, CAPS subjects, report general comments, recalculate results, etc.

  7. Click Export. Once complete, the file downloads to your Downloads folder. Unzip to open in SA-SAMS.

Step 3 — Deploy the database in SA-SAMS

  1. Open SA-SAMS, select On the Network, browse to the exported database, and click Continue.

  2. Accept the POPIA Acknowledgement. Log in: Username Administrator / Password @dmin2023.

  3. Navigate to Button 17 — LURITS Approval Module. Approve all buttons on each tab: School information, Learner Info, Educator Info, Staff Information, Governing Info.

  4. Correct any errors (red squares) in d6+, re-export and re-deploy.

  5. Once all tabs are approved, open LURITS Status Stats and click DEPLOY DATABASE. Save the Deployment Report.

Step 4 — Submit via Valistractor to DDD

  1. Open Valistractor, click Browse and navigate to C:\ExportData\LuritsData.

  2. Select the term and click Select. Use Term to Date for weekly/monthly; use Final Validation for end-of-term.

  3. Correct all errors in d6+, re-export and re-deploy until data scores 85% or higher.

  4. Click Extract Data to submit electronically to the DDD. Save the Sign-off Report.

Frequently asked questions

What does the red cross on the Database information screen mean?

No additional SA-SAMS information has been uploaded to d6+. This is normal for most schools.

The Extract Data button in Valistractor is greyed out. What should I do?

Your data scored below the required threshold. Correct outstanding data in d6+, re-export, re-deploy, and re-submit in Valistractor.
