How to register as a Follower/Viewer of a Learner

The Follower/Viewer feature allows grandparents, caregivers, and other trusted individuals (who are not the registered parent) to access a learner's homework, marks, absentee records and discipline information on the d6 Connect app. The learner's parent must grant permission for each follower.

How does a follower register on the d6 Connect app?

  1. Download and install the d6 Connect app.

  2. Register with your name, surname, cell number and choose a password. 

  3. Tap Connect.

  4. Choose Student.

  5. Enter the parent's ID number and the child's ID number.

  6. The parent will receive a notification requesting permission to follow their child. Only the parent whose ID number was entered can approve or decline the request.

Where can the school see and manage followers?

The school can view a list of all followers and remove individual followers at My School > System  >  Communication > d6 App:  Learner Parents/Viewers.

Can anyone approve a follow request?

No. Only the parent whose ID number was entered during the follower registration can approve the request. This ensures that parental consent is always required before a third party can access learner information.

What information can a follower see?

Once approved, a follower can see the learner's homework, marks, absentee records and discipline entries on the d6 Connect app, subject to the same settings as the registered parent.
