How to set up Academic Criteria

How to set up Academic Criteria

The Academic Criteria function is used to set up certificate rules based on your own criteria. Specific formulas are built to calculate results using Merit, Year, or Promotion marks already calculated by the curriculum formulas.

My School > Achievements > Databases > Academic Criteria

Prerequisite: Formulas for Promotion mark, Merit mark, and/or Year mark must already be set up at My School > Curriculum > Year-End Formulas > Subject-Specific Formulas before using this function.

How do I add new academic criteria?

  1. Click Create new.

  2. Enter the rule name in both Afrikaans and English.

  3. Set demographic rules, subjects, and the criteria formula.

  4. Indicate whether subjects should be consolidated (combined into one total) or evaluated per subject individually.

  5. Add optional results (e.g. position in grade) if needed and save.

Frequently asked questions

Why must I set up year-end formulas first?

The Academic Criteria function relies on Merit, Year, or Promotion marks calculated by the curriculum formulas. Without these formulas the calculation will not be possible.

What is the difference between consolidated and non-consolidated subjects?

Consolidated subjects combine all selected subjects into one total to determine the top learner. Non-consolidated subjects evaluate achievements per subject separately.
