Effort Ratings allow schools to evaluate learners’ diligence, attitude or behaviour alongside academic performance. Ratings are captured as scale symbols or percentages and can be displayed on official report cards.
My School > Curriculum > Curriculum Setup > Effort Ratings
Before creating an effort rating, the underlying scale set must exist in the system. If the required scale set (e.g. A–E or Excellent/Good/Satisfactory) does not exist or needs modification, email support@d6plus.co.za with the curriculum or scale set name and the symbols/values required.
Click Add New.
Enter the Description in both English and Afrikaans.
Select the appropriate Scale Set from the dropdown.
Set the Ordering value (determines display sequence on report cards).
Under the Years section, tick the checkbox next to the current academic year to activate the rating for that year.
Click Save.
Navigate to My School > Learners > Learner Marks > Marks per Group.
Select the correct Year, Term, Grade and Subject.
Click Enter Assessment Mark under the correct task, then click the Marks tab for the relevant class.
The Effort Rating columns appear adjacent to the academic mark columns. Select the appropriate level from the dropdown or enter the value for each learner.
Navigate to Reports > Learners > Marks and Achievements > Report Cards.
Select the desired template and click Edit Chosen Template.
Under Format: Scroll down to the Scale table (level descriptions) tab and configure display options (Percentages, levels and descriptions).
Move the effort rating from the left (available) column to the right (active) column using the blue arrow. Toggle Print Grade Average if required.
Click Save.
The effort rating must be activated for the specific academic year during setup (Step 2, the Years section). Ratings from previous years are not automatically carried over to prevent clutter in the mark capture interface.
The specific rating must be activated within the individual Report Card Template settings (Step 4). This allows different rating sets to be used for different grades or phases within the same system.
