How to set up communication groups in d6 Communicator
This article explains how to set up communication groups in d6 Communicator, which link your users (parents, staff, and other contacts) to your published app content. It is for school administrators (Superusers).

What types of communication groups are there?
Dynamic groups: Automated, preset private groups generated from the learner profiles loaded into d6+. They segment users by grade, subject, or gender and update automatically as new learners are captured or during year-end rollovers.
Own groups: Custom groups created manually by the school. Can be set to public (open for any app user to join) or private (restricted to members added manually).
How do I create an own group?
Navigate to My School > Communication > Communication Groups > Own Groups > +Add Group.
Specify the group name in English and Afrikaans.
Choose the visibility (public or private).
Assign publishing staff.
Move selected members from the left column to the right column.

What is the difference between a Dynamic group and an Own group?
Dynamic groups are automated and generated from learner profiles, updating automatically as learners are captured or rolled over. Own groups are created and managed manually by the school and can be public or private.
What is the difference between a public and a private own group?
A public own group is open for any app user to join. A private own group is restricted exclusively to members added manually by the school.
