How to set up Ground Plans and Locations
The Ground Plans and Locations module is used to set up the different venues at the school. All assets are allocated to these venues. Plotting a location on the map is optional, not compulsory.
My School > System > Assets > Setup: Ground Plans and Locations
How do I add locations?
Click Add New to add a new location.
Start with Parent locations (the top-level venues, e.g. School Grounds).
Enter in a Name for your location
Set the status of each location: Active, Inactive, or Deleted.
If the location is a classroom, tick the classroom checkbox and select the classroom number.
You can also enter in the area of the location in m2 as well as the display order on your locations list.
How do I plot locations on the map?
Start with parent locations and work down to sibling and current locations. Click the corners of the building or area on the map to define each boundary. The map uses three colour indicators:
Red — the parent location. The current location being plotted must fall within the parent boundary.
Blue — sibling locations (same level as the one being plotted). These must not overlap each other.
Green — the current location being plotted. It must be within the parent boundary and must not overlap sibling locations.
Frequently asked questions
Is it mandatory to plot locations on the map?
No. Plotting the location on the map is optional. Locations are still usable for asset allocation without map coordinates.
How many levels of location can I create?
Three levels are supported: Parent location, Sibling location, and Current location.
