How to show June exam marks in a separate column on the report card

This guide explains how to display an extra mark, such as a June exam, prelim or informal test result, in its own column on the report card. It is for administrators who configure report cards. The extra mark is set up as a new formula type and then switched on in the report card template.

How do I request the new formula type?

The extra column is driven by a new formula type, which the d6 team creates for you. Contact d6 support and tell us what you would like the column to be called, for example June Exam, Prelim or Informal Tests. We create the formula type with that name and let you know once it is ready.

How do I set up how the mark is calculated?

Once the formula type is ready, set up how the mark should be calculated for each subject.

My School > Curriculum > Subject Specific Formulas

  1. Select your new formula type, for example June Exam.

  2. Create a formula per subject to calculate the mark as needed.

  3. Use the Custom Formula option to define your rules.

Optional: add circle thresholds if you want low marks to be highlighted in red.

How do I show it on the report card?

Switch the new mark on in the report card template so it prints for learners.

My School > Curriculum > Report Card Templates

  1. Under the Marks tab, select the option to print additional marks.

  2. Choose the new mark type, for example June Exam.

  3. Decide whether it should appear in a separate column or replace the final term mark.

Once this is done, the extra exam mark prints on the report card in its own column.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add an extra exam mark to the report card?

Yes. An additional mark, such as a June exam, can be shown in its own column using a new formula type.

What can I name the column?

You can choose the name, for example June Exam, Prelim or Informal Tests. Let d6 support know the name you want.

Who creates the formula type?

The d6 team creates the new formula type for you on request. You then set up the formula per subject and switch it on in the template.

Can the extra mark replace the final term mark instead of adding a column?

Yes. Under Report Card Templates, on the Marks tab, you can choose a separate column or replace the final term mark.

Can I highlight low marks?

Yes. When you create the formula, you can add circle thresholds so marks are highlighted in red.
