How to import bank statements

How to import bank statements

You need an electronic copy of your bank statement before importing. The most common method is to log in to your bank's internet banking website and download the file from there. Different file formats are required for different banking institutions, and in some cases for different account types within the same institution.

How do I prepare the bank statement file?

It is best practice to rename downloaded bank statement files using the format YYYYMMDD (e.g. 20150315.ofx). This makes files easy to locate when sorted by name. If your school has multiple bank accounts, add a prefix character to distinguish them (e.g. M20150315.ofx for a Money Market account).

Finance users are reminded by a system task to import their bank statements if they have not done so in the last 30 days. Note that this reminder is not per bank account — if your school has more than one account requiring imports, it remains your responsibility to check which account the notice applies to.

How do I import a bank statement?

  1. Select the bank account from the drop-down menu.

  2. Select the relevant month and year for the import.

  3. Click Choose File and browse to the folder where the downloaded file was saved.

  4. Select the file and click Import.

  5. A message confirms the import: Bank statement successfully imported. Do you want to do a bank reconciliation now?

  6. Click Yes to go directly to the Bank Reconciliation screen, or No to stay on the import screen and import another account's statement.

  • If an error occurs during import, rectify the problem or e-mail support@d6plus.co.za for assistance.  With your e-mail request, always include the PDF as well as the Import file, and the error message you received when you imported from your side.
