Calendars can be added, edited and deleted here. Calendars created during the setup of a channel also appear here. Calendars can be synchronised with Google Calendar or an iCal feed.
My School > Communication > Communication Setup: Calendars
Create/delete/change calendars: Only users with the Administrator role under My School > Communication > Manage Communication Rights.
Manage calendar events: Moderators, Administrators and Authors/Editors specifically assigned to the calendar.
Click Add and enter a descriptive Calendar name.
Select the colour for events on this calendar.
Select whether the calendar should display on the school calendar.
Select the visibility: Public (for anyone following the school) or Not public (only for persons in the channels linked to the calendar).
Select whether the calendar should synchronise with a Google Calendar (existing or new) or an iCal feed (enter the iCal URL).
If an existing Google Calendar is used, you can add users who have rights to create new events: click Add user, select parent or staff member, and move them to the right block.
Click Save.
Click on the calendar and click Edit or Delete. The Edit and Delete buttons are only active when a calendar is selected. On deletion, the system warns that the calendar and all events will be permanently deleted. Click Yes to confirm.
Click the blue link to the right of the calendar to open it.
On the first tab, click Add to create a new event.
Enter a title, description, date and time (start and end) and venue.
Select the calendars to which the event must be linked (move to the right).
To add an attachment, tick the Add attachments checkbox. Select a file or URL. Note: attachments may not exceed 25 MB.
Select whether the event must be published as a news item or flash notification.
Click Save as draft or Publish.
Use the second tab View calendar to view events. Navigate between dates using the arrows and the Month/Week/Day buttons.
Change the Synchronise calendar field of the calendar to iCal feed on the Calendars tab and enter the iCal URL. Events will then be periodically imported from the external feed.
