The Discipline module allows staff with the appropriate rights to record both violations (negative entries) and recognitions (positive achievements). This centralised tracking system ensures a transparent record of learner behaviour that contributes to the school's overall Code of Conduct reporting. This article explains how to view, capture, delete entries, and manage parent notifications.
My School > Learners > Learners: Discipline
This module facilitates the consistent application of the school's disciplinary policy by documenting behaviour in real time, providing automatic merit/demerit totals, and streamlining parent communication regarding learner conduct.
Click the Load discipline button.
Select a grouping method: Register class, Subject group, or Individual learner.
Set Show all learners to Yes for bulk entries or No to search for a specific learner.
Optionally select a Specific reason to auto-populate the same entry for multiple learners.
Select the Date and the recorder (Educator).
Enter Comments — brief context is recommended for serious incidents.
Tick SMS Parents to queue a notification. The icon colour indicates the parent’s status (d6 Communicator App vs. SMS).
Click Continue to save the records.
Generate a Discipline report for the learner to confirm the exact date and the staff member who captured it.
Search for the learner in the main discipline view.
Click the Bin icon next to the specific entry to remove it from the system.
Navigate to My Home > Tasks > Code of Conduct tasks.
Select a Delivery method: d6 App notification otherwise SMS, SMS only, or d6 App only.
Edit the message template and click Send.
Click Load discipline, select Register class, set Show all learners to Yes, select a specific reason, and click Continue to save.
The Discipline module is only visible to staff who have the “Discipline” right assigned to their user profile. Contact your system administrator to add the correct rights.
Yes. When an entry is deleted, the system automatically recalculates the learner's merit and demerit points to reflect the deletion.
Notifications are held in a task queue under My Home > Tasks > Code of Conduct tasks so administrators can review and approve messages before they reach parents. This prevents accidental or duplicate notifications.
Select d6 App notification otherwise SMS as the delivery method. This sends via the d6 Communicator App where possible and only falls back to SMS when the parent does not have the app, significantly reducing SMS costs.
