How to set up and manage learning programmes

How to set up and manage learning programmes

Learning Programmes form the foundational framework for the academic year. They define the curriculum, grading scales, and promotion logic for a specific grade and term. A Learning Programme must be active for every grade and term to enable the rest of the curriculum setup.

My School > System > Curriculum > Curriculum Setup > Learning Programmes

How do I add a new learning programme?

  1. Click Add New.

  2. Select the Year, Grade, and activate the required Terms by moving them to the right.

  3. Choose the Scale Set (e.g. CAPS Scales). Contact d6 Support if a custom scale set is required.

  4. Select the Curriculum (e.g. CAPS) and the applicable Preset to auto-fill assessment structures. Select No Preset to build curriculum tasks manually.

  5. Choose the Task mark calculation method — this is used when exporting to SA-SAMS.

  6. Set the Alias (Afr/Eng) and Promotion method.

  7. Click Submit.

How do I configure mark release dates for d6 Connect?

  1. Locate the d6 App mark release date column for the relevant term.

  2. Click the calendar icon to set the date when marks become visible to parents on d6 Communicator.

  3. If left blank, marks remain hidden from the mobile app.

Note: A dashboard task is triggered five days before the release date to alert staff to verify all marks before parental access is granted.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I manually alter tasks after selecting a preset?

If you manually alter tasks while using a preset, the preset button will no longer be available under Promotion Formulas. You will need to set up promotion formulas manually for that grade.

What happens if I delete a learning programme?

Deleting a learning programme for a term removes everything set up for that curriculum for that term, including all tasks, marks and formulas. This cannot be undone. Contact d6 Support before deleting if you are unsure.

Can I run CAPS and Cambridge in the same grade?

Yes, but backend configuration by d6 Support is required to maintain database stability and reporting logic when running multiple curricula simultaneously within the same grade.
