The d6 School Management Portal has moved to a new, modern interface. Everything you used before is still here, in the same place, with the same data. This article shows you how the screen is laid out, how to move between areas, and how to pin the screens you use most to the top of your window.
My Home > New interface
Only the look and the layout have changed. Your learner records, staff records, finances, settings and permissions are exactly as you left them. The menus have been grouped more logically and given more space, so most screens now take fewer clicks to reach.
The tabs across the top are your main areas. Clicking a tab changes the menu on the left to match that area.
My Home: Your personal starting point. Your tasks, projects, user settings, Google Apps, training and system support links.
My School: Your school's records and setup. Staff, learners, parents, curriculum, Code of Conduct, achievements, assets and d6 initiatives.
Finances: Your finance modules. General Ledger, Cashbook, Debtors, Creditors and Budget.
Reports: All reporting. Learners, staff, DOE, documents and communication.
Admin: System administration and configuration for users with admin rights.
The tabs you see depend on the modules your school uses and the permissions on your user profile, so your tab list may be shorter than a colleague's.
On the My Home screen, the main tabs run across the top of the window and the My Home menu runs down the left-hand side.
The left menu is grouped under headings such as People, System, Finance and d6 Initiatives. An arrow to the right of an item means it opens further options when you click it. To give yourself more working space, click the arrow button at the top of the menu to collapse it, and click it again to bring it back.
On the My School tab, the left menu is grouped into People, System, Finance, d6 Initiatives and Integration Partners.
You can add your most-used screens to a favourites bar that sits just under the main tabs, so they are always one click away.
Navigate to the screen you want to pin, using the tabs and the left menu.
Click the star icon next to that item.
Check the top bar. The screen now appears there as a shortcut.
Click the star again at any time to remove it from the bar.
Before you add anything, the bar reads "You have no favourites at the moment". Your favourites are saved to your own user profile, so they follow you when you log in on another computer and do not affect any other user.
Once pinned, a favourite such as My Tasks appears as a small button directly below the main tabs, on every screen you open.
Notices: Messages from d6, sorted into Critical and Compliance. Click See all to read the full list.
Tasks: Items needing your attention, split into Setup tasks and Administration tasks. Each task has a link that takes you straight to the screen where you fix it.
School at a glance: Live totals for current learners, active staff, active educators, parents of current learners, and learner attendance for the term.
Nothing has moved or been deleted. All learner records, staff records, finances and settings are unchanged. Only the layout of the screen has changed.
Open the screen you want, then click the star icon next to it. It is added to the favourites bar under the main tabs straight away. Click the star again to remove it.
The tabs you see are based on the modules your school uses and the permissions on your user profile. If you need access to Finances, ask your school's system administrator to update your permissions.
No. The new interface has replaced the old one permanently for all schools. Every screen from the old interface is still available in the new layout.
Start by choosing the tab that matches the area of work, then look under the grouped headings in the left menu. If you still cannot find it, contact d6 Support and tell us the name of the screen you are looking for.
No. Favourites are saved to your own user profile only. Each user sets up their own shortcuts, and yours follow you when you log in on a different computer.
