Achievements Overview — how the Achievements module works

The Achievements module allows schools to set up academic criteria and formulas to determine which learners should receive specific academic certificates and other awards. Manual awards can be made for categories such as Sport, Culture, Leadership and others.

Certificates can be printed on a pre-printed background, or with a complete layout including a frame, school name, logo and more.

What steps ensure successful certificates?

  1. Set up the Academic rules/criteria and the Certificate template.

  2. Set up the awards/achievements.

  3. Allocate awards/achievements to learners.

  4. Print the certificates.

How do I set up academic rules and certificate templates?

  • Sponsors: If the school wants to print sponsor names on certificates, set up the details here.

  • Achievement types: Set up achievement types such as Trophy, Medal, Certificate, etc.

  • Academic Criteria: Set up rules for automatic academic awards based on the learner's marks in specified terms. Pre-set rules such as Top 10 learners, Average 80%+, Best progress, etc. are available.

  • Certificate template: Set up the certificate layout and indicate the position of the school name, logo, etc. Pre-set layouts such as A4 Portrait and A5 Landscape are available to copy and adapt.

How do I set up awards according to the school's policy?

Awards are set up in three levels: Category > Activity > Achievement

For example:
Sport > Soccer > 1st Team Captain
Culture > Drama > Full Colours

  • The Categories are fixed: Academic, Sport, Culture, Leadership and Other. These cannot be changed or added to.

  • School Activities are grouped under the pre-set categories and can be created as needed (e.g. Soccer, Athletics, Drama, Choir).

  • Achievements are created for each activity and linked to a specific certificate template.

How do I allocate awards to learners?

  • Automatic Academic Awards: Indicate the academic achievements to be allocated based on the learner's marks.

  • Manual Awards: Allocate the remaining achievements (such as Sport and Culture) individually by hand to the relevant learners.

  • View or Edit Learner Links: Verify which learners have received specific activities and achievements. These lists can be printed at Reports > Learners > Allocated Achievements.

How do I print certificates and achievement reports?

  • Print Certificates: Indicate which certificate template must be printed.

  • Reports > Learners > Certificate Lists: Print a cover page per learner with a summary of the categories for which awards were received.

  • Reports > Learners > Achievement Certificates: Create and print certificates based on the selected certificate template and the achievements linked to it.

  • Reports > Learners > Allocated Achievements: Print achievements per learner for use at the prize-giving or awards event.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create new categories?

No. The categories (Academic, Sport, Culture, Leadership, Other) are fixed and cannot be changed or expanded.

What is the difference between Automatic and Manual awards?

Automatic awards are calculated based on the learner's marks and the academic criteria you have set up. Manual awards must be individually linked to learners for non-academic achievements such as Sport and Culture.

Where can I see a summary of which learners received which awards?

Go to Reports > Learners > Allocated Achievements to see an overview per learner. You can also use My School > Achievements > View or Edit Learner Links to verify and edit individual links.
