Promotions

Promotions

Promotions allows you to promote each learner to the next grade. Start with the highest grade and work downwards. This step is only available after re-registrations have been completed.

Note: This function is only available for grades where the No Calculation method has been selected at My School > Curriculum > Result guidelines. For grades using the 2012 DOE NPPPPR guideline, results are calculated automatically and the screen is read-only.

My School > People > Learners > Learner Year-end: Promotions

How do I promote learners?

  1. Generate a top performers report for all terms and subjects to view percentage marks and decide which learners should be promoted.

  2. For each register class, click the eye icon to the left of the register class.

  3. Initially all learners are marked in red with the radio button in the Promoted column.

  4. For learners who are not being promoted, click the radio button under the Retained column.

  5. Click Continue. The learners' names will now appear in green.

  6. Repeat for all register classes.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the promotions screen displayed as read-only?

The grade is configured to use the 2012 DOE NPPPPR guideline — results are calculated automatically. Manual promotion choices are not applicable for these grades.

Can I undo promotions after clicking Continue?

Yes, as long as the final year-end roll process has not yet been completed. Return to the register class via the eye icon and change the radio button selections. After the roll process the data is locked.

Why must I start with the highest grade?

Starting with the highest grade ensures that promotion positions are freed up before the lower grades are processed. This prevents conflicts in grade capacities during the roll process.
