How to capture marks per group

How to capture marks per group

The Marks per Group function allows you to process marks in bulk accurately and efficiently for a complete subject group.

My School > People: Learners > Learner Marks > Marks per Group

What do the function buttons do?

  • “=” button: Recalculates marks after they have been captured. (Rarely needed — d6 recalculates and saves automatically while you work.)

  • “a” button (Absent): Automatically fills in ‘a’ for all learners who do not yet have marks. Existing marks remain unchanged.

  • “x” button (Delete): Use with great care. Once you confirm Yes, all marks for that subject group are permanently deleted.

How do I capture marks per group?

  1. Click on the relevant Year and then on the Term.

  2. Click on Select Grade and then on Select Subject.

  3. Select the capture level:
      • Option 1 (Red): Subject level
      • Option 2 (Orange): Task/LO level
      • Option 3 (Green): Assessment level

  4. Click on Capture marks (0) and select the correct Subject group.

  5. Go to the “Mark 1” tab. You can rename the column (e.g. “Test”) by clicking on it.

  6. Enter marks and press Tab or Enter after each mark. A green block confirms that the mark has been saved.

  7. Once the total marks appear in brackets (e.g. (137)), your marks have been saved successfully.

  • Unallocated learners: Click this option to see learners not yet linked to a subject group.

  • Edits: Click on an existing mark, type the new value and press Tab — d6 updates automatically.

How do additional marks and averages work?

Click the green Plus button to create Mark 2. The platform automatically calculates the final mark as an average of all columns (e.g. Mark 1 + Mark 2 + Mark 3 divided by 3).

You can also manually enter ‘a’ at the red (subject level), orange (task level) or green (assessment level) marks.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know my marks have been saved successfully?

Two visual indicators confirm successful saving: a green block appears next to the mark as you capture it, and the total in brackets (e.g. (137)) is visible below/next to the subject.
