Resource Categories serve as headings for groups of resources. When a contributor adds a resource, they select a category to group it under. Parents and other contacts linked to channels associated with the resource will then be able to access it via the resources screen in the d6 Connect app.
My School > Communication > Communication Setup > Resource Categories
Click the Add button.
Enter an Afrikaans and English name for the category.
Select Yes to use this category for resources.
Click Save. The category will display as a heading for grouped resources in the mobile app.
Highlight or double-click the relevant category and click the Edit button.
Only the category name can be edited. Make the change and click Save.
Note: The Edit and Delete buttons are only available once a category is selected.
You can only delete categories that have no resources linked to them.
Highlight or double-click the category you want to delete and click the Delete button.
The system will ask: "Are you sure you want to remove this category?" Click OK to confirm or Cancel to abort.
If the category has linked resources, the system will display: "The category is currently in use and can't be removed." Remove or move the resources first before attempting to delete the category.
The Edit and Delete buttons only activate once a category is selected. Click or highlight the category row first, then the buttons will become available.
Categories with resources linked to them cannot be deleted. Remove all resources from the category first, or move them to a different category, then delete the empty category.
Parents and other contacts linked to channels that the resource was published to will see the resource category as a heading in the Resources section of the d6 Connect app.
