My School > Communication > Resource Categories

Type <Ctrl> <F> to search for words in the article.
Resource Categories serve as headings for a group of resources. When resources get added by contributors, the first question that is asked is into which category this resource is to be grouped. Once saved, relevant Parents and Other Contacts linked to one or more channels to which this resource was linked, will be able to access it by going to the resources screen of the app to open several resources grouped in the relevant Category.

Create a Resource Category

  • To create a category, click on the "Add" button.
  • Type an Afrikaans and English name for your Category.
  • Select "Yes" to use this category for resources.
  • Categories in which resources are posted will display as a heading for a group of resources on the mobile app of the relevant users.

Edit a Resource Category

  • Highlight/double-click the relevant category and then click on the "edit" button.  (Note - The edit and delete buttons will only be available once a category is chosen. If no category is selected, the edit and delete buttons will be disabled).
  • Only the Category name can be edited.

Delete a Resource Category

  1. You can only delete categories with no resources linked to that category.
  2. Highlight/double-click the category that you want to delete and click on the "delete"  button.
  3. Note - The edit and delete buttons will only be available once a category is chosen. If no category is selected, the edit and delete buttons will be disabled.
  4. The system will prompt you with the following message:
"Are you sure you want to remove this category?" Click on either "OK" or "cancel".
  5. If you try to delete a category with linked resources the following message will display:
"The category is currently in use and can't be removed".
