RSS (Rich Site Summary) uses a specific URL that points to a website and displays short articles. Users linked to the public channels will be able to receive these streams.
My School > System > Communication > Communication Setup > RSS Streams
RSS Streams is a function available in various existing systems (e.g. News24 or Supersport). When schools post messages on their blog, these can be automatically sent to d6 Connect users as an RSS stream — on the channel selected in the RSS Streams setup.
Click the Add button to add a new RSS Stream.
Add the Title and the Link of the stream.
Select whether a push notification should be sent:
No: The user sees the message when the app is opened.
Yes: The message pops up immediately on the screen, even if the d6 Connect app is closed.
Select the Groups to which the stream should be sent from the drop-down.
Only d6 Connect users linked to the public groups selected in the RSS Streams setup will receive the streams.
Push notifications ensure that users are immediately notified of new content, even without actively having the d6 Connect app open.
The school's website developer sets up the website to export RSS streams. Once the URL is available, it can be added in the d6 system to be distributed via d6 Connect.
