Setting a Deadline on a Form or Payment

Setting a Deadline on a Form or Payment

When a message contains a Form or Payment Item, you can set a deadline. Once the deadline passes, parents can no longer submit responses or make payments. This is useful for permission slips, excursion bookings, and time-sensitive requests.

Messages → New → Message Builder → Set Deadline

How do I set a deadline?

  1. While building a message that contains a Form or Payment component, scroll to the bottom of the Message Builder.

  2. Click Set Deadline.

  3. Choose a date and time for the deadline.

  4. For Form deadlines, choose what happens when the deadline passes:

    • Disable: The form is greyed out and locked, but still visible to parents.

    • Remove: The form is completely removed from the message on the App.

  5. Complete your message and send as normal.

System behaviour and restrictions

  • Automatic blocking: After the deadline passes, late submissions are blocked automatically — no manual action is needed.

  • Existing payments safe: Payment deadlines prevent new payments but do not affect payments already made.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when a form deadline passes?

Depending on your setting, the form is either greyed out (disabled) or completely removed from the message on the App. Parents can no longer submit responses after the deadline.

Can parents still make a payment after the deadline?

No. Once the payment deadline passes, new payments are blocked automatically. Payments that were already completed before the deadline are not affected.

Can I extend a deadline after setting it?

Yes. Edit the message and update the deadline date and time. The new deadline will take effect immediately on the App.
