This article walks you through creating an Altivo account, setting up your school, and understanding user roles. It is intended for school administrators signing up for the first time and d6 support staff assisting with onboarding.
Login page > Sign Up
To start using Altivo, you need to sign up with an email address and password. This creates both your user account and your school’s workspace.
Go to the Altivo login page
Click Sign Up
Enter your details: Display name, Email address, Password (minimum 6 characters), and School name
Click Create Account
You will be logged in automatically and taken to the dashboard
When you sign up, Altivo creates a user account linked to your email, a new school workspace with your school name, and assigns you the School Admin role with full access to all features.
Go to the Altivo login page
Enter your email and password
Click Log In
You will be taken to your school’s dashboard
If you are not logged in and try to access any page, Altivo will redirect you to the login page automatically.
Yes. Each school in Altivo is completely isolated:
No cross-access: School A cannot see School B’s sponsors, assets, or sponsorships
No accidental leaks: There is no way to accidentally access another school’s data
Database-level enforcement: This isolation is enforced at the database level, not just in the user interface
This is important for d6 support staff to understand: even when troubleshooting, the system enforces that each user can only access data belonging to their own school.
Your first step should be to complete your school profile. Go to My School in the sidebar and fill in:
School name: Already set from signup, editable later
Email address: The school’s contact email
Phone number: The school’s contact number
Address: Street, city, province, postal code
Student count: Used to calculate weekly reach (student count × 5 school days) shown on the Sponsor Portal
Logo URL: A link to your school’s logo image
PBO number: Enables Section 18A tax receipt generation for cash sponsorships (leave blank if not applicable)
| Role | Access level |
|---|---|
| School Admin | Full access — can add, edit, and delete all records. Can manage school settings. |
| School Manager | Can add and edit records, but cannot change school settings. |
| School Viewer | Read-only access — can view all data but cannot make changes. |
No, this is expected. A new school starts with an empty workspace. You need to add sponsors, assets, and sponsorships to populate the dashboard.
Click “Forgot password?” on the login page. You will receive an email with instructions to create a new password. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive within a few minutes.
Yes. Go to My School in the sidebar and edit the school name field.
A PBO (Public Benefit Organisation) number is issued by SARS to qualifying non-profit organisations in South Africa. If your school has one, sponsors who make cash donations can receive Section 18A tax receipts. If you do not have one, leave the field blank — you can add it later.
