The Top Achievers report identifies the highest-performing learners within a specific grade or register class. It allows for granular ranking based on individual subjects or overall academic averages across multiple terms.

To generate merit lists for prize-giving's, academic awards, and internal performance tracking. The module offers technical flexibility to align calculations with either school-specific policies or official SA-SAMS rounding protocols.
Academic Year & Grade: Select the relevant year and grade level.
Learner Status: Choose to generate for Mainstream or LSEN learners.
For Learners who receive education in
Mark Type: Select the specific mark type to be used for calculations (e.g., Term Mark or Promotion Mark).
Top: Indicate the number of learners to display (e.g., Top 10 or Top 50).
Grouping: Choose to group the results by Grade, Register Class, or Subject Group.
Rounding Decimals: Specify the number of decimal places for the final marks.
Calculation Precision:
Use Accurate Marks: Marks are not rounded during intermediate calculations (from assessment to component to subject).
Use Rounded Subject Marks: Marks are rounded at every step of the calculation. This aligns with SA-SAMS logic and ensures consistency with exported departmental schedules.
Incomplete Marks: Indicate whether learners with "a" (absent) entries for any assessments should be included.
System Reasoning: Excluding learners with incomplete data ensures a fair comparison, as missing marks can sometimes skew averages in favor of learners who did not complete all rigorous assessments.
Subjects: Select specific subjects from the left and move them to the right, or select all.
Terms: Select which terms should contribute to the calculation.
Action: Click Generate to preview and print the PDF, or Export to Excel for further data sorting.
SA-SAMS Alignment: Selecting the "Rounded" calculation option ensures that the Top Achiever list matches the averages generated by departmental software, preventing discrepancies during official award ceremonies.
Real-Time Calculations: The report processes current data from the Curriculum module. Any mark changes saved in the Mark Capture screen are immediately reflected upon re-generating the report.
Export Rights: The "Export to Excel" function is restricted to users with specific export permissions to protect sensitive academic rankings.
Data Integrity: Learners marked as "Left" are excluded from top achiever lists by default unless specifically included, ensuring merit is awarded to currently enrolled students.
