Birthday SMS Template
This function allows you to edit, add or remove templates used in the Birthday Messages function.

How do I add an SMS template?
Click the Add button.
Select the language for the template by clicking the applicable language tab at the top of the page. You must complete the template in both Afrikaans and English.
Enter a short descriptive Template title.
Enter your birthday message in the message block. Note the character limits shown in the bottom right corner under SMS message length calculator. Every 160 characters is charged separately.
Use the Insert fields to add personal information — the system automatically replaces the curly brace codes with the applicable data.
Click Save to save the changes.
Frequently asked questions
How many characters may an SMS message contain?
Each SMS part consists of 160 characters. If a message is longer, it is sent as multiple parts and each part is charged separately. Use the SMS length calculator in the bottom right corner to monitor this.
What are insert fields?
Insert fields are codes in curly braces (e.g. {Name}) that the system automatically replaces with the applicable learner or parent information when the SMS is sent.
Must I complete the template in both languages?
Yes. The system sends the message in the communication language set for each parent in the system. Both the Afrikaans and English versions must be completed to ensure the correct message is delivered.
