Budget per Category Report

The Budget per Category report allows you to generate summary and detailed budget reports that compare your current budget year with a previous year. This article explains how to generate both summary and detailed budget reports per category.

Reports > Finances > Reports > Budget: Budget per Category

How do I generate a summary budget per category report?

  1. Choose the budget by clicking the For budget drop-down arrow.

  2. Choose Summary at the Show option by clicking the drop-down arrow.

  3. Choose the previous budget to compare with at the Compare with budget option.

  4. Click the Preview button to view the report.

  5. The report is generated as a PDF document which can be viewed in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

How do I generate a detailed budget per category report?

  1. Choose the budget by clicking the For budget drop-down arrow.

  2. Choose Detail at the Show option by clicking the drop-down arrow.

  3. Choose the details you prefer at the Detail option.

  4. Click the Preview button to view the report.

  5. The report is generated as a PDF document which can be viewed in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

What is the difference between a summary and detailed report?

A summary report provides an overview of budget totals per category and compares them with the selected year. A detailed report breaks down individual line items within each category for more granular analysis.

Can I compare budgets from different years?

Yes. Use the Compare with budget option to select any previous budget year for side-by-side comparison with your current selection.

In what format is the report generated?
