This article explains how to capture LSEN (Learners with Special Education Needs) weights and medical information during learner enrolment.

Purpose of feature
LSEN weights affect school-wide Departmental reporting ratios submitted to the Department of Basic Education. Medical information is linked to the learner profile for emergency and health management purposes.
Step-by-step instructions
Setting the LSEN weight
The default LSEN weight is 1.00 for all learners.
Only adjust this if the learner has a verified special educational need supported by an official medical assessment.
Locate the Education Disabilities block in Step 2 and enter the appropriate weight. Maximum value is 9.99.
Capturing medical information
In Step 2, scroll to the Medical Information block.
Select applicable conditions from the global list, or add a new entry if the condition is not listed.
Notes
LSEN weighting changes should only be made on instruction from the principal or a qualified assessor.
Medical information is visible to authorised staff only and is not shared with parents via the portal.
