Student Portal — School Communication Checklist

Student Portal — School Communication Checklist

This checklist helps schools communicate the Student Portal rollout to parents and students clearly and confidently. It also covers the most common issues schools encounter and how to resolve them quickly.

d6 Communicator App > Student Portal

What schools should communicate to parents and students

  • Students now have their own login for the Student Portal — they no longer need to use a parent's credentials.

  • Students must use the email address the school has registered for them, not a parent's email address.

  • The Student Portal is accessed through the d6 Communicator App — there is no separate website or login page.

  • Students can only view their own information — they cannot make any changes.

  • The portal was previously called the Parent Portal. The name has changed to Student Portal.

Common issues and quick fixes

  • Student sees parent information: Ensure the student is logging in with their own registered email address, not a parent's.

  • Timetable not showing: Confirm the school subscribes to d6 Timetabler and that it is correctly configured.

  • OTP not received: Check the spam or junk folder, or request a new OTP from the login screen.

  • Cannot access the portal: Confirm the student has a valid email address or mobile number on their learner profile in d6.

  • Login not recognised: The email address must match exactly what the school has on record — even a small difference will prevent access.

Support contacts

  • Schools — support@d6plus.co.za

  • Parents and students — appsupport@d6.co.za

Frequently asked questions

A student is logging in but seeing the wrong information — what is the most likely cause?

The most common cause is that the student is using a parent's email address to log in. The student must log in with the email address the school has specifically registered for them to see their own information.

Where should parents and students go for help if the school cannot resolve the issue?

Parents and students should contact d6 directly at appsupport@d6.co.za. Schools with technical issues should contact support@d6plus.co.za.

Do we need to notify parents that the portal name has changed?

Yes. The portal was previously known as the Parent Portal. Schools should communicate to parents and students that it has been renamed the Student Portal and that the access point — the d6 Communicator App — remains the same.
