This article explains how to import multiple learners at once into the d6 school management solution using an Excel template.
My School > Learners > Learners > Import Learners
Bulk importing allows schools to enrol large numbers of learners simultaneously. This is particularly useful at the start of a new year or when migrating from another system.
Navigate to Import Learners.
Click Download Template to get the Excel import file.
Important: Do not change or rename any column headings in the template.
Complete the required fields. Use country codes without the "+" symbol (e.g., 27 for South Africa).
Save and upload the completed file using the Import button.
Open the Imported Data tab to review results. Errors are highlighted by colour code — correct any flagged rows and re-upload.
Mandatory fields: Ethnicity and gender must be included for LURITS/CEMIS compliance.
Family linking: Learners can be linked to existing family accounts by including the correct family code.
Navigate to My School > Learners > Learners > Import Learners, download the Excel template, complete the fields without changing column headings, and upload the file. Review results on the Imported Data tab.
Common causes include missing mandatory fields (ethnicity, gender), incorrect phone number formats, or duplicate ID numbers. Correct the flagged rows and re-upload.
No. The column headings must remain exactly as provided. Changing them will cause the import to fail.
