Achievements Overview — how the Achievements module works

The Achievements module allows schools to set up academic criteria and formulas for automatic certificate allocations, and to manually allocate achievements for sport, culture, leadership and other categories. Certificates can be printed on pre-printed backgrounds or generated with a full layout (border, school name, logo, etc.).

My School > Achievements

Step 1: Set up academic rules and certificate layouts

  • Sponsors: Set up sponsor details if your school prints sponsor names on certificates.

  • Achievement types: Set up award types such as Trophy, Medal, Certificate, etc.

  • Academic Criteria: Set up automatic academic rules based on learner results per term. Pre-configured options include Top 10 Learners, Average 80%+, Best Improvement, etc.

  • Certificate template: Set up the certificate layout (position of school name, logo, etc.). Pre-configured layouts (e.g. A4 Portrait, A5 Landscape) are available to copy and customise.

Step 2: Set up achievements

Achievements are set up in three levels: Category > Activity > Achievement (e.g. Sport > Soccer > First Team Captain).

  • The five categories (Academic, Sport, Culture, Leadership, Other) are fixed and cannot be changed.

  • Create activities within each category (e.g. Sport > Soccer, Athletics; Culture > Drama, Choir).

  • Create achievements for each activity and link each achievement to a certificate template.

Step 3: Allocate achievements to learners

  • Automatic Academic Allocations: The system allocates academic achievements automatically based on the configured criteria.

  • Manual allocations: Manually allocate remaining achievements (sport, culture, etc.) to specific learners.

  • Review allocations: Verify which learners receive which achievements via Reports > Learners > Marks and Achievements > Allocated Achievements.

Step 4: Print certificates

  • Reports > Learners > Marks and Achievements > Certificates: Print a cover page per learner with a summary of all categories for which awards were received.

  • Reports > Learners > Marks and Achievements > Achievement Certificates: Generate certificates based on the selected certificate template and linked achievements.

  • Reports > Learners > Marks and Achievements > Allocated Achievements: Print achievements per learner for use at the Awards Evening.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a new category such as Wellness?

No. The five categories (Academic, Sport, Culture, Leadership, Other) are fixed and cannot be changed or extended by users.

How do I know which learners automatically receive academic achievements?

After automatic allocations have been run, go to Reports > Learners > Marks and Achievements > Allocated Achievements to verify the list before printing certificates.

Must I set up the certificate template before making allocations?

Yes. Each achievement must be linked to a certificate template during setup. Without a linked template, certificates cannot be generated.
