How to manage Subjects

How to manage Subjects

The Subjects module contains the master list of all academic offerings available within the school’s database. For South African public schools, CAPS curriculum subjects are pre-loaded with the necessary regulatory coding. This module allows administrators to manage how subjects are displayed on official documentation and schedules.

My School > Curriculum > Databases > Subjects

How do I filter and view subjects?

  1. Select the relevant Curriculum and Grade.

  2. Use the status filters to toggle between Active, Inactive or Deleted subjects.

  3. To customise columns, right-click on any table heading and use the green arrows to select or deselect columns (e.g. Code, Subject Name, Ordering).

How do I edit subject ordering?

  1. Click on the Subject Line to open the editable data grid.

  2. Update the Ordering field to change the display order on Report Cards, or the DOE Ordering field to change the order on the Progression Schedule. Lower numbers appear first.

  3. Click Accept Changes to save.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I add a new subject myself?

Every subject must be linked to a unique LURITS regulatory code for DOE compliance. Unlinked subjects cause export failures during SA-SAMS submissions. Send new subject requests (including non-departmental subjects) with the subject name, grade and LURITS number to support@d6plus.co.za.

Why are subjects appearing in the wrong order on my report card?

If the Ordering fields are left as 0 or are identical, the system defaults to alphabetical ordering. Enter unique numerical values in the Ordering field for each subject to override this.
