Access Levels: Students, Parents & Viewers

Overview

The Student Portal provides different levels of access depending on who is logged in. This article explains what each user type can see and do.

d6 Communicator App > Student Portal > Profile

Purpose of this feature

Understanding access levels helps schools, parents, and students know exactly what information is visible to whom — and ensures the right people have the right access.

Access levels at a glance

  • Student (own school-registered email) — Marks, timetable, attendance, and discipline. View only.

  • Parent (own school-registered email) — All of the above, plus finance information and the ability to edit personal details.

  • Viewer (added by a parent) — Marks, attendance, and discipline only. View only. No access to finance or personal information.

How to add a Viewer

A parent can grant a trusted person — such as a grandparent or au pair — limited view access to the Student Portal. To add a Viewer:

  1. Log in to the Student Portal via the d6 Communicator App.

  2. Click Your Profile.

  3. Scroll down to Add Viewer.

  4. Enter the Viewer’s email address or mobile number.

  5. Confirm to send the invitation.

The Viewer will receive an invitation to create their own login and access the portal with limited permissions.

No. Viewers have read-only access to a limited set of information. Only parents can edit personal details within the Student Portal.
