Student Portal — Overview & Types of Users

The Parent Portal has been renamed to the Student Portal. Students can now log in with their own credentials to view their own school information directly. The portal is accessed through the d6 Communicator App — there is no separate website or login page.

Types of users

There are three types of users who can access the Student Portal:

  • Students — Log in using their own email address or cellphone number as registered by the school.

  • Parents — Log in using their own email address or cellphone number as registered by the school.

  • Viewers (e.g. grandparents or au pairs) — Once a parent has granted viewer access, viewers log in using their own email address or mobile number.

Important note for schools

Students must be registered in the d6 Communicator App with their own email address as reflected on the d6 School Management Portal. If a student logs in using a parent's email address, they will see parent-level information — not student-level information.

Frequently asked questions

Why has the Parent Portal been renamed to the Student Portal?

The name change reflects the expanded access now available to students. Previously, only parents could log in. Students can now access their own school information using their own credentials, so the name was updated to be more inclusive.

Can a student log in using a parent's email address?

They can, but they will see parent-level information rather than their own student information. Students must log in with the email address the school has registered specifically for them to access their own data.

Who is a Viewer and how do they get access?

A Viewer is someone such as a grandparent or au pair who a parent has granted limited access to. The parent adds the Viewer from within the Student Portal. Viewers can only see marks, attendance, and discipline — not financial information.
