Learning Programmes

Learning Programmes

A Learning Programme must be configured for each grade per term to enable the management of assessments and marks. It forms the foundation of the Curriculum module and ensures that marks are correctly calculated for reports, promotion schedules and SA-SAMS exports.

My School > System: Curriculum > Curriculum Setup: Learning Programme Setup

How do I create a Learning Programme?

  1. Click Add new.

  2. Select the Year, Grade and Term(s).

  3. Select the Scale set (achievement level scale).

  4. Select the Curriculum (e.g. CAPS).

  5. Select the Pre-setup (e.g. CAPS year pre-setup) to automatically load all required tasks and assessments. Select None to build a custom structure from scratch.

  6. Select the Task Mark Calculation Method (Original, SA-SAMS All Subjects, or SA-SAMS DBE Only).

  7. Select the Promotion calculation method.

  8. Click Save.

How do I set the d6 Connect mark release date?

In the d6 App Mark release date column, enter the date when parents may view marks on the d6 Connect app. If no date is entered, marks remain hidden. Dates must be updated annually and can be removed by clearing the date field.

Frequently asked questions

Which calculation method should I select?

Select SA-SAMS (All Subjects) for 100% alignment with SA-SAMS schedules. Select Original (d6) for mathematically more accurate calculations. Select SA-SAMS (DBE Only) for schools with both official and internal subjects.

Can I apply a pre-setup to a term where marks have already been captured?

No. Applying a pre-setup removes all existing marks for that term. Configure the learning programme fully before capturing marks.

Why must I create a learning programme before linking subjects to learners?

The system uses the learning programme to determine which assessment rules and scale sets must be applied to marks. Without a learning programme the system cannot perform the appropriate calculations.
